Restlessly, I roamed the hallways of the massive estate, periodically checking back to the room that Chase and I had stayed in, in the hopes that he would return. But unfortunately, Chase had taken off, reverting to his guarded ways, and honestly, I couldn’t blame him.
After what I had said to him, I would be surprised if he ever forgave me, because it was beyond hurtful, and I now see that my words were inexcusable. Regardless of what he had done, I never should have used his insecurities against him.
