I would have sworn by the horrific horror in Jessica’s eyes, that she had just bored witness to her own mother’s execution, but as I laid her unconscious body down on the ground, I realized very quickly that wasn’t the case. A female’s scream now radiated from the opposite direction, drawing my attention back towards my uncle, who had Mrs. Jacobs still kneeling before him, very much still alive.
Tears now poured uncontrollably from her eyes, as her hand reached out in front of her, towards a motionless body laying on the ground in a pool of blood directly in front of my brother. The face of the body was turned in Mrs. Jacobs’ direction, but I didn’t need to see his face to know who had just lost their life.
