Raven’s POV
My heart raced heavily in my chest, as I took a step back, finding myself pinned against the wall with nowhere to go, as I listened to the sound of footsteps moving back in the small hallway to my grandmother’s bedroom. I had no clue who those footsteps could possibly belong to, and after the day I was having I feared the worst, but as the shadows grew taller, and neared the slight crack in the door, a familiar voice instantly sent a wave of calmness throughout me.
It was the simple whisper of Mazie’s voice calling my name, that put not only me at ease, but also Chance, as I watched the tension immediately leave his posture, right before the bedroom door open, revealing Mazie with Lexi following a step behind her.
