The takeaway was my idea. I know Ruby loves Chinese food, but can't cook it, and I wasn't in the mood to cook, and I don't trust the cooks to do it the way we like it. My stomach, although not vomiting, has reminded me to be careful about what I eat. Foods I enjoyed before, I can't stomach now; I hope that changes when the baby is born.
We settled with Ruby in Dad's sitting room. We were going to stay away from my home for a day and concentrate only on the wedding reception, where the world would be watching who Dad chose, and to see me, his daughter, for the first official time at a function.
