After saying goodnight to the Guardians and Alphas as well as Tanya’s father, Hope, Tanya, and I make our way to their suite. This one isn’t as large as the one they stayed in last time, but I don’t care. Even if the couch is too small for me, which I’m sure it will be, this is twice I've come close to losing Hope. No matter how uncomfortable I am, Malcolm and I will be more comfortable knowing she's safe.
I listen as the two women get ready for bed in the other room, with Tanya asking if she can sleep beside Hope. I know Tanya is scared and struggling with what happened in the last twenty-four hours, so I’m not surprised.
Hope brings me a pillow and a blanket, then kisses me.
“Thank you for being here and thank you for staying here tonight. I know I’ll rest easier with you here,”
