Rowan I stared in the direction Elizabeth fled with a kaleidoscope of emotions tearing through me. Confusion, unease, longing... guilt. What the hell had just happened? Everything had been going so well. We finally had a clearer picture of where her strengths were and what she still needed help with. She adapted quickly, learned quickly. Hell, she even had Cade working for it and that alone was a feat most wolves couldn't accomplish. But the second the adrenaline had faded, and the sparring stopped, something inside of her shattered like glass beneath pressure. Cade stepped up beside me and rested a hand on my shoulder.
