“My father is being stubborn,” Darius admitted. “I don’t know what to do. I am prepared to pay Viktor’s taxes, but he refuses to listen.”
That was dangerous. Viktor was not a man anyone challenged without consequences.
“My father wants to issue Viktor a death challenge,” Darius continued.
“What?” I exclaimed. “Has he lost his mind?”
Darius did not answer.
“Have someone evaluate him, for his own sake and the sake of Silverlake,” I urged. “He cannot genuinely believe he will defeat Viktor.”
“He requested a meeting with him, and I know he does not intend to go peacefully,” Darius explained. “Gideon tried to talk him out of it, but my father’s Beta is encouraging him.”
I became worried for everyone in Silverlake. Ironbridge was ruthless under Viktor. It would not be a fair confrontation
