Age 16 Evan stood on the street, staring at the house. It was a small, modest home. Only one story. He bounced on the balls of his feet, chewing his lip. He did not want to knock on that door. Actually, he was pretty sure he’d rather set himself on fire and jump in a vat of oil instead. His therapist wanted him to do this. Said it would help him forgive himself for what happened in the bar. Said Evan needed to prove to himself he wasn’t like Riley’s first mate.
