Age 19 Evan sat in the car for a long moment, staring at the pack house. This was the first time he had visited Green River without his parents, but at nineteen, he didn’t need them holding his hand anymore for these visits. He only had a week off from the academy, and while Alex had headed back to Red Moon, Evan had decided to fulfill his obligations with Green River. Climbing out of the car, he looked up at the three-story pack house in front of him. It sat alone at the edge of town, backed by thick woods that seemed to press closer every year. Across the road, the training fields stretched out, dry patches of grass dotted with faded equipment. Beyond that stood the training hall and the warrior barracks, both of which looked like they hadn’t been updated in decades. Everything here
