60. Blake is Gone

“How is she?” Dylan asks, standing up as soon as I leave Candace's room.
“She's calmer, but she was very scared.” I sigh, my heart still racing. “I don't understand what was going through that woman's mind. Candace truly believed Blake could take her away. She was afraid of never seeing her father or me again.”
Dylan wraps me in his arms and gently strokes my back. That simple gesture manages to calm the whirlwind inside me a bit.
“That woman is dangerous,” he says in a low voice.
I close my eyes. In my mind, it all replays like a horror movie I can't stop.
