Chase’s POV The second raid came at 2:41 a.m.—faster, quieter, more desperate than the first. I was already awake, propped against the headboard with the tablet balanced on my lap, feeds cycling through every camera angle. The knee throbbed under the brace—swollen again after yesterday’s PT—but I ignored it. Amelia slept beside me, breathing slow and even, one hand resting over the small curve of her stomach that only we could see yet. I kept the volume low so the alerts wouldn’t wake her. They didn’t need to. The motion sensors triggered first—soft chime on the tablet, red dots blooming along the northern fence line. Four intruders. Dark gear. Bolt cutters.
