I was glad that I’d caught her by surprise, but I originally wanted to work her into admitting what she had done first. I jumped the gun, but I was furious. I couldn’t believe that she would do something like this to Emma. Now I’m wondering just how many things I didn’t know about that Joan and Noel have gotten away with over the years.
Joan jumped up out of her chair at my words, no longer pretending to cry. She had been stunned into silence, but I’m not done with her by a long shot.
