Noel’s POV
Mom's been anxious all week. At first, she was absolutely positive that she couldn’t be connected with the man she hired. As the days passed, her confidence started to falter. Then it went right out the window when the police showed up on our doorstep yesterday. They questioned her about her connection to the man she hired to kill Emma.
Mom stuck to her story and refused to admit she knew Jacob Mills or had any contact with him. She let them check her phone, but she knew she had scrubbed it clean. She felt better about the interview after they left. They asked her tough questions, but Mom was prepared. I think they knew more than they were letting on, but Mom dismissed my concerns.
