The week after my interview started okay. I visited two more law firms and sent more emails. But the anonymous calls kept coming. The phone would ring late at night. When I answered there was only heavy breathing or silence. Sometimes it hung up right away. It happened four times in three days. Sofia noticed how nervous I was.
“It is probably nothing,” Sofia said one evening while we ate dinner. “Wrong numbers. Or kids playing games on the phone. Do not let it get to you.”
I pushed my food around the plate. “I do not know. It feels like someone is watching us. The calls come at night. It makes me jump every time the phone rings. What if it is connected to the attack on you?”
