The trip to the gathering took several hours. I traveled with Lenora, Taren, Tessa, and six other wolves from Pinehaven. Nobody spoke much during the last part of the journey because the road through the mountains became narrow. I kept my notebook inside the bag beside me.
We reached the neutral territory before midday. Several buildings stood around a large open space, with smaller guest houses farther behind them. Wolves from different packs were already arriving with bags and boxes. Pinehaven had been given one of the guest houses near the eastern side.
