Chapter 53 Conrad Stone ~•~ “How are you feeling?” I asked my father as I pressed my hand on his forehead. I was trying to check his temperature. On some days, it seemed like he was getting better. But on other days, he was barely holding up. I was exhausted and I wanted him to get better. I couldn’t risk losing my father. The mere thought of it made my stomach twist painfully. His weak voice came through. “I don’t know, Conrad.” My chest tightened as I saw how pale he looked. I was ready to do whatever it took to make sure he got better. But it was out of my control. I sat with my father for a few minutes longer, feeling his pulse under my fingertips, before I forced myself back to the living room. As I sank onto the couch, I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration.
