(Mira) A week later, I was back at the hospital for the follow up appointment the doctor had insisted on before letting me go home. I didn’t want to be nervous, but my body didn’t care what I wanted. The second Ridge parked near the entrance, my hand went to my stomach. I told myself this was just a checkup, but the last time I’d come through those doors, I’d been bleeding and terrified. Ridge cut the engine and looked at me before reaching for the door. “You ready?” he asked. “No,” I said honestly.
