(Ridge) Mira had fallen asleep against me about twenty minutes after we stopped talking. I didn't move. Just sat there with my arm around her and her head on my shoulder and the room quiet around us. She needed the rest more than I needed to be anywhere else right now and that was reason enough to stay where I was. My phone vibrated on the nightstand. I reached for it carefully without disturbing her. Dane. I answered it low. "Yeah." "Mira's parents are at the gate," he said. Everything in me went still. I looked at Mira asleep against my shoulder. Her hand resting on her stomach. Her face relaxed in a way it only got when she was fully under. She didn't know. She wasn't going to know. "Hold them," I said quietly. "I'm coming." I ended the call and carefully shifted Mira off
