As the days turned into weeks, Alejandro's strength and spirit continued to grow. He was eventually discharged from the hospital, and we returned home, grateful to be together again as a family.
But the experience had left its mark on us. Alejandro struggled with nightmares and anxiety, and Bruno and I struggled to come to terms with the fact that our son had been taken from us.
We sought therapy and counseling, and slowly but surely, we began to heal. We learned to appreciate the little things in life, to cherish every moment we had together, and to never take our love for granted.
And as we healed, our love for each other only grew stronger. Bruno and I realized that our relationship was the rock that held our family together,
