Modric’s POV The memorial began at sunset. Both packs gathered on the border where Mooncrest’s pale forests met Ironclaw’s darker pines. A wide clearing had been prepared between the territories so neither side could claim the ceremony belonged more to them. Two paths led into the clearing. Mooncrest families entered from the south, carrying white candles and silver flowers. Ironclaw families came from the north with dark lanterns and branches of cedar. At the center stood a wide stone circle filled with carefully stacked wood. Beside it, two long boards displayed the names of wolves lost during years of border conflict. No ranks.
