“He’s really brought out every bit of your mischievous side.”
As her best friend, I knew Scarlett far too well to be fooled by her appearance.
Scarlett was the type who looked gentle and refined, with an elegant air that made her seem almost impossible to offend. Even when someone crossed a line, she’d often just smile without saying a word.
But her temper had never been as mild as people assumed.
She used to hit Jaxen, too.
Sometimes, she’d kick him or take a swing at him when he annoyed her.
Jaxen had always maintained enough of his gentlemanly composure to let her get away with it without making a big deal out of things.
